PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENTS AND THERAPY FOR ADULTS
Arise Psychology Services provides Psychological assessment and therapy for people over the age of 16.
Ron Sutherland has worked in the NHS for 28 years as a fully qualified Psychologist with the latter 16 years as Consultant Clinical Psychologist before retiring from the NHS in 2014. He now works exclusively in a private capacity on a part-time basis.
He has extensive experience of working with people with mental health problems, including older adults. He has seen adults referred for a range of emotional difficulties and across different levels of severity. After qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist from the University of Liverpool, Ron has worked in NHS mental health services in Merseyside and Manchester.
His psychological practice is rooted in evidence based therapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and Schema Therapy. His training and experience enables him to integrate other models within an individual treatment approach. (EG: Family Therapy, Mindfulness and Compassion Focused Therapy, EMDR). He has particular interest and expertise in trauma and depression. He has worked with the psychological impact of a range of traumatic events such as road traffic accidents and assaults. He has substantial experience of work with complex trauma including those with origins in childhood.
Ron is Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with The health and care Professions Council (HCPC) and Associate Fellows of The British Psychological Society (BPS).
He has extensive experience of providing clinical supervision to clinical psychologists in training and other mental health professionals. As a Consultant Clinical Psychologist within the NHS he has taken lead roles for research governance and has considerable experience of interdisciplinary line management. He is committed to lifelong learning and Continued Professional Development (CPD) and regularly attends conferences and workshops and keep up-to-date with the latest developments in psychological theory and practice. He continues to provide and receive clinical supervision.
